A head-on crash in Hopkins County Sunday afternoon has left one person dead and eight others injured.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office says the collision occurred in the 5500 block of Stagecoach Road near Hanson just after 2:00 p.m. Sunday when a vehicle driven by Deborah Townsell was traveling southbound and crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a northbound vehicle driven by Christopher Cook.
According to deputies, a passenger in Townsell’s vehicle, Lucian Townsell, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say Deborah Townsell, Cook, and his six passengers were all taken to out-of-state hospitals for treatment of serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
