A Madisonville man was arrested early Tuesday morning following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of illegal drugs.

Madisonville Police say 41-year-old Jarred Weideman was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over just after 1 a.m. on North Kentucky Avenue for crossing the center line multiple times.

According to the arrest citation, Weideman removed a satchel from his chest to retrieve a knife after telling officers he was armed. When the bag opened, police say they discovered three separate baggies of meth.

Weideman is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance for more than two grams of meth, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
