Hopkins County OKs Funding Deal for Phase 1 Project at Industrial Park

Hopkins County magistrates have approved a new funding agreement to support development at Madisonville Industrial Park II.

At last week’s fiscal court meeting, Kelli Forbes, Executive Director of Operations and Communications for the Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation, gave an update on the Kentucky Product Development Initiative grant.

click to download audioForbes said the project will take place in three phases, and they have received $400,000 to fund the first phase.

Forbes has also announced that a groundbreaking ceremony for E. Hofman Packaging, a Canadian plastics packaging manufacturer establishing its first U.S. facility in Hopkins County, will take place on Tuesday, July 29, at 12 p.m.

click to download audioIn other new business, magistrates approved a Memorandum of Agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to provide funding for Laurel and Bet Level roads. They also entered into an agreement with LitFiber to advance broadband access throughout the county and approved a state mutual aid agreement to help streamline disaster response efforts.
