E. Hofmann Packaging to Invest $40M in Hopkins County

Governor Andy Beshear has announced that E. Hofmann Packaging, a Canadian-based plastics packaging producer, plans to locate its first U.S. operation in Hopkins County.

During his Team Kentucky update Thursday, Gov. Beshear said E. Hofmann Packaging plans to construct a 100,000-square-foot production facility in Madisonville. He added that this is welcome news for an area that is still recovering from the devastating 2021 tornadoes.

click to download audioIn a written statement, Hopkins County Judge Executive Jack Whitfield said he is excited for the economic boost a new manufacturer will bring to the area, with benefits expected to extend across Western Kentucky. He credited local and state leaders for supporting progress and emphasized the need for counties to stay competitive and ready for growth. He said with the help of the Governor, legislature, Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton, the Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation, and the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, Hopkins County is moving forward and will continue to see progress for years to come.

Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton said he is thrilled to welcome E. Hofmann Packaging’s expansion, calling it a significant milestone for local economic growth. He said the project will bring jobs, strengthen the manufacturing sector, and provide new opportunities for families. Cotton credited strong partnerships between city, county, and state leaders, as well as private industry, for supporting the city’s future prosperity.

Wade Williams, president of the Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation, said his team is proud to help E. Hofmann Packaging expand to the United States. He noted the family-owned company could have chosen any location, but they are pleased it selected Madisonville and Hopkins County. Williams added he believes E. Hofmann will be the first of many new industries coming to the area.

According to state officials, E. Hofmann Packaging USA LLC, a subsidiary of Ontario-based E. Hofmann Plastics Inc., has over 40 years of experience in rigid plastic packaging. The company expanded into extrusion and thermoforming in the late 2000s, with a strong focus on food industry customers. Since 2010, sales have doubled every five years, with more than half coming from the food and beverage sector.
