Small business owners and managers can learn how to defend their operations against digital threats at a specialized workshop next month.
The Hopkins County Regional Chamber of Commerce has announced that a “Cyber Security for Small Businesses” workshop will be held on Monday, May 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the MCC Workforce Solutions Brown Badgett Building, located on the Madisonville Community College campus at 1980 College Drive.
Organizers say that as cyber threats increasingly target smaller companies that may lack dedicated IT departments, this two-hour session aims to provide practical, beginner-friendly tools to protect sensitive data and customer information.
Participants will receive training on identifying common threats such as phishing and social engineering, as well as best practices for email security and password management. The workshop will also cover cost-effective steps to reduce risk and provide a roadmap for what to do if a cyber incident occurs.
Admission is $15 for Chamber of Commerce members and $20 for non-members.
Business owners, managers, and staff interested in attending are encouraged to register through the Madisonville-Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce or by contacting MCC Workforce Solutions.
