The Hopkins County Health Department is offering a free training session next month designed to help community members support those facing mental health challenges.

The Mental Health First Aid Training will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hopkins County Health Department.

The program teaches participants how to recognize, respond, and refer individuals who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. Organizers emphasize that no prior experience or medical background is necessary, and all adults in the community are encouraged to attend.

Officials say the goal of the session is to provide residents with valuable skills that can make a tangible difference in the lives of friends, family, and neighbors.

Registration is required to attend. Interested participants can register by scanning the QR code found on the event flyer in this story or on the Hopkins County Health Department’s Facebook Page, or by calling 270-821-5242, extension 260. Community members are also encouraged to share the event information to help spread awareness of this free resource.
