It is time to fire up the grill for a good cause. The Madisonville North Hopkins High School FFA has officially launched its whole chicken pre-sale.

The high school’s Animal Science classes are now selling whole chickens raised entirely on campus. FFA leaders say the project gives students hands-on experience in animal care, nutrition, and production agriculture.

According to FFA officials, each bird weighs between six and eight pounds, is inspected by the USDA, flash frozen, and ready to be cooked in the oven or on the smoker.

The chickens are $25 each. All proceeds go back to supporting the FFA chapter and its educational programs.

You can pick up your order on Friday, May 1st, at the school’s auxiliary gym parking lot between 3:00 and 4:00 P-M.

Quantities are limited, so chapter leaders are urging supporters to secure their birds soon.
