First United Bank and Trust Company has officially partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley to sponsor a “Happy Wheels Cart” at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville. The initiative was celebrated Tuesday morning with a public check presentation of $1,000 in the bank’s main lobby.
The cart is designed to ease the stress of hospital stays by delivering snacks, blankets, toys, and toiletries directly to patients and their families at no cost.
Skylar Hagerman, with the Ronald McDonald House, says these small gestures—like a cup of coffee or a toy for a child—serve as a vital reminder to families that they aren’t alone during their most challenging days.
The Madisonville location joins seven other carts operating across the region, which served nearly 11,000 people last year.
First United President Jason Hawkins says the bank is honored to support a program that brings encouragement directly to the community when it’s needed most.
