Hopkins County is earning national attention thanks to recent recognition for the Kentucky Sports Factory.

Officials with the Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission say the facility’s General Manager, Drew Harrington, was featured in a national “Who’s Who in Sports Tourism” article by Sports Destination Management Magazine.

Local leaders say they’re proud to support the Kentucky Sports Factory, which is helping bring tournaments, visitors, and new energy to the community.

During a July 2025 meeting, Harrington introduced himself to the Madisonville City Council and shared that his family has roots in Caldwell County, with both his parents and grandparents living in Princeton. Harrington said he grew up in Elizabethtown and played baseball for three years at the University of Louisville, then moved into professional baseball with the Atlanta Braves and later the Chicago White Sox before his career officially ended in 2019.

After leaving baseball, Harrington worked six years in operations management for an electrical contractor before becoming the general manager at the Kentucky Sports Factory.
