The Webster County Schools Leadership Alliance recently wrapped up its final session, spotlighting how the district supports students across several key areas. Special Education Director Kim Saalwaechter explained that Webster County offers a strong foundation for students with disabilities, staffed with speech therapists, school psychologists, and more, all dedicated to helping children succeed.

Assistant Superintendent Dawn Forker shared how the district’s English Learner Program is making a difference for students at Sebree Elementary School, Webster County Middle School, and Webster County High School. With 14 languages spoken across the district, kids receive support from staff members, after-school programs, and even summer camps.

Attendance was also a major focus, with Assistant Superintendent Greg Bowles noting a big improvement—the chronic absenteeism rate is down from nearly 31 percent last year to about 25 percent this year. The district credits this progress to family engagement programs, field trips, and tools that help parents stay connected, like calendar magnets and ParentSquare.

School leaders say pathway courses at the middle, high schools, and the Area Technology Center give students hands-on career connections for a brighter future.

The first-ever Leadership Alliance brought together 25 local parents, business, and community leaders for a deeper look at Webster County Schools, meeting three times a year to learn and collaborate.
