
The Madisonville Lions Club celebrated its 2025 Man and Woman of the Year at its Award Dinner Tuesday night. The Man of the Year Award was presented to Mark Metcalfe, and the Woman of the Year Award went to Linda Thomas.
According to Lions Club officials, Metcalfe and Thomas have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the spirit of “We Serve.” Over the years, they say Metcalfe and Thomas have gone above and beyond to support the community, dedicating countless hours to making Madisonville a better place.
Club officials extended heartfelt thanks, emphasizing that Metcalfe and Thomas truly represent the spirit of service. Officials agree this honor is much deserved, celebrating the positive change brought about by their commitment.
As we previously reported, Thomas was recognized for his lifelong commitment to nursing, education, and community service. She has served in leadership roles at Madisonville Community College and Murray State University, along wtih her involvement on boards such as Baptist Health, the YMCA, and several other civic organizations.
Metcalfe is the owner of Metcalfe Landscaping and Pleasantview Greenhouses, continuing his family’s tradition of service and agricultural excellence in Hopkins County. Metcalfe has been recognized locally as Farmer of the Year and was recently a finalist for Kentucky Farm Bureau’s Farmer of the Year. He’s also well known for organizing the Scott Gaines Golf Tournament and generously volunteering his time and talents to support numerous community events.
Since 1945, the Madisonville Lions Club has honored individuals who demonstrate exceptional civic and volunteer service.
Tuesday night’s Awards Dinner was held at Event Barn A in Mahr Park.
