As a reminder, drivers in Hopkins County are advised to plan for temporary closures on Kentucky 70 and Pleasant View Road over the next three days, as oversized equipment moves will require full stops and detours during morning hours.

According to officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, starting at 9:00 each morning, a contractor for the Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency will temporarily close Kentucky 70 between the Paducah & Louisville Railroad Depot and Pleasant View Road. The oversized equipment will then turn onto Pleasant View Road—also known as Kentucky 1302—before continuing to AC Slaton Road.

Each morning, officials say the equipment move is expected to last about four hours. Kentucky 70 will be completely closed to traffic in both directions starting at 9 a.m., with the closure in place until the oversized load turns onto Pleasant View Road. Officials expect the highway to reopen between 10:30 and 11 a.m. each day.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to manage traffic during the operation.

Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes and use extra caution in the area.
