Motorists in Hopkins County are being asked to prepare for temporary traffic changes this week as part of a major energy infrastructure project.
Officials with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public about temporary traffic disruptions next week as oversized equipment is moved for the Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency’s Energy Center I project.
Authorities say the transports are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week. The equipment will travel from the Paducah and Louisville Railway, head north to Highway 70, turn left onto Pleasant View Road, right onto Bean Cemetery Road, and then left onto AC Slaton Road to reach the project site.
Officials note that the movement of these oversized loads may lead to occasional delays, slower traffic, and brief stoppages along the transport route.
The local Sheriff’s Office is urging drivers to allow extra travel time in affected areas, consider alternate routes when possible, and follow instructions from law enforcement officers managing traffic control.
Officials with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office say deputies will be on site to help maintain safety and keep disruptions to a minimum.
