A Madisonville man faces assault and strangulation charges following an altercation with a co-worker at a local fast food restaurant on Monday night.

According to Madisonville Police, officers were called to Taco Bell shortly after 10:45 p.m. after reports of a fight breaking out in the kitchen between two workers. Witnesses told officers that 21-year-old Alejandro Suggs and the victim were involved in a heated altercation. Investigators say they learned that Suggs, who was not working at the time, had come to the restaurant for a drink but ended up confronting the victim about an earlier argument.

Police say the confrontation quickly escalated, with both parties yelling and cursing. According to statements to officers, Suggs reportedly grabbed the victim by the throat, restricted his airway, and then forced him against a wall before physically assaulting him. Officers noted visible marks on the victim’s neck, which were photographed for evidence.

Suggs left the scene before police arrived, but was found and taken into custody a short time later at the Elk Creek Manor Apartments.

Suggs was charged with second-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
