Following major conflict in the Middle East, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has risen sharply, according to AAA.

The current average stands at $3.32 per gallon, which is 34 cents higher than Monday and 42 cents more than a month ago, marking the highest national average since September 2024.

AAA says rising oil prices are a key factor, with West Texas Intermediate crude trading above $85 per barrel, up more than $20 since the conflict began last weekend.

AAA says if crude prices continue climbing, drivers could see gas prices increase further in the coming weeks.

To help offset higher fuel costs, AAA East Central recommends improving fuel efficiency by driving the speed limit, accelerating smoothly, reducing excess cargo, limiting unnecessary trips and avoiding extended idling.

The group also encourages drivers to keep tires properly inflated, follow routine vehicle maintenance schedules and address any check engine warnings promptly to maintain optimal fuel economy.
