Routine maintenance is set to impact travel next week as the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet prepares to inspect a major bridge along the Western Kentucky Parkway.

State transportation officials say a contractor will begin a routine inspection of the Western Kentucky Parkway bridge spanning the Green River at the Muhlenberg/Ohio County line, which will require temporary lane restrictions.

Starting Monday, March 9, the eastbound right lane of the bridge will be closed to allow inspectors to safely examine the structure. Motorists should expect brief delays and are advised to exercise caution when passing through the work zone.

Officials say inspectors will utilize a special “snooper truck” that extends below the bridge deck, allowing crews to examine the substructure with minimal disruption to traffic.

Inspection work is set to take place daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, March 9, through Friday, March 13, starting on the eastbound side of the parkway before shifting to the westbound slow lane.

Officials say routine bridge inspections play a vital role in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of the state’s transportation system.

Drivers are urged to slow down, stay alert, and look out for signs and work crews while passing through the area.
