Hopkins County Humane Society Director Dustin Potenza recently shared some of the services they are providing at the temporary shelter on Dulin Street in Madisonville as they await construction of their new facility to replace the one lost in last April’s tornado.
Currently at the temporary shelter, Potenza says they are prioritizing intake for animals with the most urgent need.
click to download audioAccording to Potenza, the temporary shelter reached full capacity just six days after opening, with 56 animals taken in. He adds that anyone who finds a stray or needs assistance with an animal should still contact the Humane Society.

Potenza said they plan to begin accepting volunteers at the shelter soon, but for now, the team is still getting accustomed to the workflow at the temporary facility.
