Michael Meatris mugshot/Hopkins County Jail
A Madisonville man was arrested this weekend in connection with multiple hit-and-run collisions.
Madisonville Police say officers responded to a hit and run on South Main Street near Rural King just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, after receiving several reports of a vehicle driving erratically and nearly causing more accidents. Shortly afterward, police say a second hit-and-run was reported near McLeod and Sandcut, with the same vehicle identified as involved in both incidents. According to police, witnesses followed the vehicle to a residence on West Kentucky Road.
Authorities say the driver, 33-year-old Michael Meatris, displayed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking, and confessed to hitting a vehicle after leaving a bar.
Meatris was taken into custody and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, 2nd offense, and failure to report a traffic accident. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail..
