A St. Charles woman was arrested on multiple charges Sunday night after attempting to evade deputies during a traffic stop.

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, around 10:15 Sunday night, deputies spotted a vehicle leaving the Dollar Store on Main Street driven by 45-year-old Candis Perkins of St. Charles, who was known to have an outstanding warrant.

Deputies reported that Perkins didn’t use her signal when turning onto Main Street from Nortonville Road, and when they attempted a traffic stop, she turned into a driveway, accelerated into a backyard, and drove between a trailer and a shed before coming to a stop behind the home.

Deputies said Perkins was taken into custody without further incident and charged with failure to use or improper use of a signal, driving on a DUI-suspended license – 3rd offense, third-degree fleeing or evading police, and failure to maintain required insurance. She was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
