Two Madisonville Lions Club members were recognized with Quilts of Valor for their service to our nation during a special presentation last week.
According to Club officials, Marsha Hardin with the Quilts of Valor Foundation was the guest speaker at its weekly meeting. They said the foundation provides handmade quilts to veterans as a source of comfort and healing. With over 10,000 volunteers and members, they said the foundation has awarded 436,429 quilts nationwide as a meaningful gesture of gratitude to those who have served.
Officials said Hardin presented a Quilt of Valor to fellow Lions Club member Mike Kelly, who served as a transportation and logistics specialist in Cam Ranh Bay during Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.
Hardin also awarded a Quilt of Valor to fellow Lion Tom Morgan, who was unable to attend the meeting, in recognition of his service in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.
Club officials noted that these handmade quilts serve as a powerful symbol of gratitude and respect for those who have served in our military.
