Robert Evans/Hopkins County Jail mugshot
A Madisonville man was arrested on burglary and drug possession charges after two separate police calls Saturday morning.
Madisonville Police said they were first called to a home in the 600 block of Beaver Creek Drive shortly after 8:00 a.m. after reports that Robert Evans appeared to be under the influence of drugs, attempted to steal items, and tried to stab another person before leaving.
According to police, Evans could not be located during the initial incident, but officers later found him during a trespassing call on Whittington Drive around 11:30 a.m. Police said Evans was arrested after trying to run from officers and was found carrying a small screwdriver and drug paraphernalia.
During a search at the Hopkins County Jail, police said Evans was found in possession of prescribed suboxone and a small blue metal knife with burn marks.
He was charged with public intoxication, attempted third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, fleeing or evading police, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
