The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley has partnered with Ellis Park Racing and Gaming to announce the sponsorship of a Happy Wheels Cart at Deaconess Henderson Hospital. According to a release, this partnership aims to provide families and patients with a little extra care and comfort in challenging times, showing how acts of compassion and support from the community can make a real difference.
According to officials with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley, a public check presentation celebrating the generous partnership will take place this Friday at 8:30 a.m. at Deaconess Henderson Hospital in the Labor & Delivery Department.
The Happy Wheels Cart, supported by volunteers, brings moments of relief directly to the bedside, filled with snacks, blankets, toys, books, and essential toiletries. Officials said the cart helps ease stress and offers small comforts during the often overwhelming experience of a hospital stay.
With seven additional Happy Wheels Carts in rotation across the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley 52-county service area, officials noted that nearly 11,000 patients and families were served last year alone, demonstrating the growing impact of bedside hospitality across the region.
Officials said the Happy Wheels Cart will circulate throughout Deaconess Henderson Hospital without any cost to the facility, thanks to the partnership between Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley and Ellis Park Racing and Gaming. The service is available to all patients, family members, and visitors within the hospital.
