Josie Crafton/Hopkins County Jail mugshot
A traffic stop in Madisonville over the weekend led to the arrest of a local woman after police found her in possession of a significant amount of meth.
According to the Madisonville Police, officers stopped a vehicle around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday after noticing that the license plate was obscured and the driver did not signal when turning from South Seminary Street onto Sugg Street.
Police said that as they walked up to the vehicle, the passenger, 27-year-old Josie Crafton, was acting suspiciously and appeared to be trying to conceal objects. When asked to step out of the vehicle, police said Crafton admitted she had illegal narcotics hidden on her.
During a search, officers said they found two large bags of suspected meth, as well as two capped needles. Police indicated the quantity of meth discovered with Crafton was consistent with trafficking rather than personal use.
Crafton was taken into custody and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
