Gas prices in west central Kentucky have fallen this week, with the average price now $2.484 per gallon, down 11 cents from last week, according to AAA East Central.

Locally, prices vary slightly across western Kentucky cities — about $2.48 in Bowling Green, $2.51 in Elizabethtown, $2.57 in Louisville, $2.38 in Owensboro and $2.48 in Paducah.

This regional average remains well below the record high of $4.74 set on June 13, 2022.
Across the nation, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has ticked down 2 cents to $2.79, the lowest U.S. average since March 2021.

Crude oil markets have been relatively stable, with global supply robust and OPEC+ signaling no planned production increases in early 2026 due to softer demand. Today’s national average is 14 cents lower than a month ago and 27 cents below this time last year.

Data from the Energy Information Administration shows lower gasoline demand last week, while total domestic gasoline inventories increased. However, gasoline production edged down slightly. U.S. crude oil inventories sit about 3% below the five-year average, reflecting ongoing market balancing.

The national average cost to charge an electric vehicle at a public station remains about 38 cents per kilowatt hour, unchanged from recent weeks.

On the price spectrum, the most expensive states for gasoline include Hawaii, California and Washington, while the least expensive markets are in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Iowa. For EV charging, the highest rates are in West Virginia and Alaska, with Kansas and Wyoming among the cheapest.
