The Daviess County Detention Center is enhancing safety measures for its staff with the help of a recent grant award.
Officials said the Detention Center was recently awarded a grant through the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security to purchase 30 additional ballistic vests for their staff. They said their deputy jailers not only serve behind the walls, but they also conduct numerous transports outside the facility.
According to officials, the vests are custom fitted to each deputy and will help ensure the safety of their staff as they serve the public safety of the community.
