The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced the KY 120 bridge over Bull Creek in Webster County has reopened to traffic.

The bridge, which has been closed for repairs since November 17, is located east of Providence and is locally known as the “S-Curve.”

State transportation officials said the bridge was closed after a routine annual safety inspection last month found deterioration in several wooden pilings with the bridge’s substructure, and engineers determined that repairs were needed to begin as soon as possible.

The damaged pilings were reinforced with wrap cable and rebar before being encased in concrete.

Officials noted that repairs were expected to take one to two months to complete, but the project wrapped up just one day shy of a full month.
