Election interest continues to grow in Hopkins County as the 2026 races for county and city seats draw more candidates.
Republican candidate Tim Riggs officially submitted his paperwork with the Hopkins County Clerk’s Office on December 1st to run for the magisterial District Three seat. The position is currently held by Democrat Vicki Dickerson Thomison, who filed on November 5 to seek another term.
On December 2nd, incumbent Misty Cavanuagh filed her paperwork to seek reelection for the Ward One seat on Madisonville City Council, which is a nonpartisan position.
Candidates have until January 9th to file for the 2026 election.
