Man Charged with DUI and Endangerment After Madisonville Parade Incident

A Manitou man is facing several charges after reportedly driving through a closed intersection during the Madisonville Christmas parade Saturday night.

During a Christmas parade detail at East Arch Street and North Main Street, Madisonville Police say an officer observed a truck disregard road closures around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, driving around a patrol cruiser with active emergency lights and into a crowd-filled intersection.

The officer stopped the driver, 66-year-old Douglas Blair, and reportedly detected the odor of alcohol, along with signs of slurred speech and uncoordinated behavior. Blair was taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests and booked into the Hopkins County Jail.

Blair was charged with DUI, disregarding signals from an officer directing traffic. first-degree wanton endangerment, and first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
