
The Madisonville City Council approved major funding, infrastructure upgrades, property sales, and board appointments during Monday’s meeting.
In new business, the Council unanimously approved up to $9.5 million in general obligation bonds to fund the West Noel Interceptor project, as explained by Mayor Kevin Cotton.

click to download audioCouncil approved the lowest bid after Mayor Cotton explained that this is already in the budget for $2.2 million but came back before the Council because the project was $8,713.50 over the $2.2 million that the Council already had approved.
In other business, the Council approved selling the surplus 6-acre lot at 819 South Main Street to support economic development.

The Council approved several board reappointments, including Susie Scholze, who will continue her service on the Tree Board through December 5, 2028.
Additionally, Michael Hunt, Chip Tate, Elizabeth Oldham, Debby Myers, Devi Thorp, and Lyle Crouch were reappointed to the Tourism Advisory Board for terms ending December 31, 2026.
The Council also approved the appointment of Sid Hill to the Tourism Advisory Board.
During council committee reports, Ward 3 Councilman Adam Townsend explained that at the joint meeting on November 17 of the Tourism City Council Committee and the Tourism Advisory Board, there was one funding request to go toward relocating the Soap Box Derby.
