Madisonville’s 55th Annual Farm City Breakfast Honored Many Agriculture Figures

The 55th annual Madisonville Farm City Breakfast was held in the newly opened Hopkins County extension office.

Over 150 people attended the breakfast to enjoy a delicious meal and celebrate the achievements of agriculturalists. In total, five awards were handed out to deserving members of the Madisonville and Hopkins County farm community.

The Madisonville North Hopkins High School FFA Chapter kicked off the morning with the FFA opening ceremonies.

As for awards, the first was Environmentalist of the Year. Hopkins County Regional Chamber of Commerce President Karen Solise presented the award to Bradley Brown.

click to download audioThe Danny Peyton Friend of Agriculture Award was given by First United Bank & Trust President Jason Hawkins, with the honor going to Kris-Ann Tapp.

click to download audioSolise also presented the Agriculture Innovation Award, which was given to Hopkins County Central FFA.

click to download audioLastly, Will Pearson with Tyson Foods awarded Metcalfe’s Greenhouse, Florist, and Landscaping with Farm of the Year.

click to download audioIn addition, Hopkins Central FFA, Madisonville North Hopkins FFA, and Hopkins County 4-H were given a donation of $2,300 each from Independence bank to help the clubs with their future projects.

The morning ended with the reciting of the 4-H pledge and the FFA closing ceremonies.
