The Madisonville Lions Club welcomed Matt West and Tim Riggs from GE Aerospace at last week’s meeting, providing members with an opportunity to learn more about the company’s activities and its influence in the community.

Club officials noted that GE has served as a cornerstone of the Hopkins County economy since its doors first opened in 1971. Originally, the Madisonville plant focused on lighting products, but in 1979, the facility transitioned entirely to aviation manufacturing and quickly became one of the largest employers in the region. Today, the site employs approximately 460 people.

They said the Madisonville operation specializes in producing blades and vanes for aircraft engines. The components are shipped as finished products for both military and commercial applications, helping to power aircraft around the world.

Beyond its industrial output, GE Aerospace Madisonville is also known for its commitment to community involvement. Employees have contributed more than 1,800 volunteer hours and participated in numerous local service projects.

The Madisonville Lions Club thanked West and Riggs for speaking at the meeting and expressed their appreciation for all the contributions GE Aerospace makes to Hopkins County
