KLC Executive Director Honors Mayor Cotton at City Council Meeting

J.D. Chaney, Executive Director of the Kentucky League of Cities, attended Monday night’s Madisonville City Council meeting to recognize Mayor Kevin Cotton for being named the 2025 Elected City Official of the Year.

Chaney noted that the Kentucky League of Cities gives out several annual awards every year, such as the City Clerk of the Year Award, recently presented to Kim Blue, and the selection of Mayor Cotton as the 2025 Elected City Official of the Year.

Chaney said that the Kentucky League of Cities presents awards like City Clerk of the Year, recently given to Kim Blue, and Elected City Official of the Year, awarded to Mayor Cotton for his achievements and positive impact locally, statewide, and nationally.

Although Cotton received the award at the KLC conference, Chaney said presenting it locally helps the community recognize his leadership.

click to download audioChaney noted that Mayor Cotton serves on the KLC Board of Directors and is a former member of the KLC Executive Board. He said it was an honor to recognize him in Madisonville and shared that the award also includes a donation from the KLC.
