All students in the Hopkins County School District had a chance to enjoy sweet corn grown by the Hopkins Central FFA Chapter Thursday during the Hopco Cafe's Homegrown meal.
Hopkins County Central FFA Advisor Ben Prevette told WFMW during a live broadcast from the school Thursday to celebrate the accomplishment that this is the second year for the FFA Chapter's sweet corn project.
Prevette says the project was a success even with the dry summer in July and August.
He says the project is going to grow larger next year with the addition of beef.
Co FFA Advisor Gabbie Prevette says the project helps students in the Hopkins Central FFA Program to gain some valuable experience.
Gabbie says the reaction of the students in the cafeteria was pleasing to them.
She added she couldn't wait for their daughter to come home from school yesterday and tell them about the sweet corn that she enjoyed for lunch at school.
While students were getting their lunch trays and heading to their tables at the Hopkins Central Cafeteria Thursday they were handed information by one of the chapter officers and members talking about the sweet corn that they were enjoying.
