Drivers need to be aware that work is set to begin Wednesday night on the southbound U.S. 41 bridge in Henderson.

State transportation officials report that crews will be working on the bridge nightly from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., with southbound traffic limited to one lane during these hours. Both southbound lanes are expected to remain open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Officials also note that traffic on the northbound bridge will not be affected at this time.

Throughout the 40-day work schedule, officials say engineers will monitor traffic patterns each day and may adjust the lane closure times as needed.

This project will primarily address repairs identified during a specialized T-1 steel inspection conducted in late 2024. Unlike routine biannual bridge inspections, officials explain that these Federal Highway Administration-mandated inspections focus on identifying, inspecting, and testing specific components of T-1 steel bridges. The process includes verifying the integrity of all butt welds using non-destructive testing methods.

The project is expected to be complete by October 19.
