State Senator Robby Mills of Henderson was recently honored with the Mae Street Kidd Public Service Award at the Kentucky Affordable Housing Conference last month, held at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington.
The award, presented by the Kentucky Housing Corporation, recognizes elected officials who demonstrate exceptional leadership in advancing affordable housing opportunities. Officials said Mills received the honor for his work as co-chair of the Kentucky Housing Task Force, which was created in 2024 to address Kentucky’s growing housing shortage.
The task force was created after the Kentucky Housing Corporation released its Kentucky Housing Supply Gap Analysis showing the state needs over 200,000 more homes. Led by Mills, the group united experts, gathered input, and developed a report with strategies to boost housing supply and affordability. The committee resumed its work this summer.
In a written statement, Mills said he is humbled to receive this award and proud of the work their task force has accomplished. He said housing is the foundation of strong communities, and he will continue working to ensure Kentucky families have greater opportunities to find safe and affordable places to call home.
The Mae Street Kidd Public Service Award honors the late Representative Mae Street Kidd, a pioneering legislator and civil rights leader known for advancing housing, education, and economic opportunity in Kentucky.
Mills represents the 4th Senate District, including Henderson, Hopkins, Union, and Webster counties.
