A Madisonville man faces several charges after crashing his vehicle into a Mortons Gap home Tuesday night and attempting to run from deputies.
According to Major Charles Young of the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle crash with no injuries at 104 South Elm Street around 8:30 Tuesday night. He said they found that 31-year-old Matthew Fisher had been driving an SUV westbound on Cross Street when he lost control and crashed into the north side of the home.
Deputies said they determined that Fisher was under the influence of alcohol. When they attempted to arrest him, deputies reported that he tried to run but was apprehended in a nearby yard.
Fisher was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol under aggravating circumstances, first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, possession of drug paraphernalia, and third-degree escape. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
