Thomas Badgett, Jr., 75, of Madisonville

Thomas “Brown” Badgett Jr., aged 75, of Madisonville, passed away on August 29, 2025.

Brown was a man who lived with unwavering devotion. For 36 years, he shared his life with his wife, Sue Cumbee Badgett, and cherished her daughter, Tonya Cumbee, as his own.

Recognition held no significance for Brown. What truly mattered were the individuals he touched—the neighbors and friends who could count on his generosity and the family who felt his unwavering love.

Brown and Sue’s generosity has had a far-reaching impact healing lives: YMCA, The Parks & Recreation Center in Greenville, the Pediatric Ward at Baptist Health Deaconess, The Badgett Regional Center for Enhancement at Madisonville Community College, Greater Muhlenberg County Parks and Recreation, Gatton Academy at Western Kentucky University, University of Kentucky Women and Philanthropy, Felix E. Martin, Jr. Foundation, Hopkinsville Christian County Library and Maryhurst in Louisville.

Brown is survived by his wife, Sue Cumbee Badgett, Tonya Cumbee and who held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Brown Sr. and Helen “Heidi” Badgett, as well as his sister, Deidre Badgett Griffin, and brother, Owen Kinsley Badgett.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 10:00-11:30, followed by the funeral at First Christian Church of Hopkinsville. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Hopkinsville, Boys & Girls Club of Hopkinsville, or Maryhurst of Louisville.
