Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton addressed the Madisonville Lions Club last week about the community’s recent growth and development.
Lions Club officials said Mayor Cotton provided exciting updates on several positive developments in the community since 2021.
Highlights included the Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency’s ongoing efforts to keep power rates low, with plans for a 75-megawatt, $150 million power plant coming to Hopkins County off A.C. Slaton Road.
Mayor Cotton also mentioned E. Hoffman Plastics, a Canadian company that recently broke ground on its first and only United States plant that will be located off Nebo Road.
He noted the opening of the West Kentucky Police Academy, which is currently operating in the regional police training complex until the new academy facility is built on a 300-acre site off Bean Cemetery Road.
Mayor Cotton also discussed continued retail growth, including plans to connect Midtown Commons to the new retail shops, with state funding anticipated within the next two years.
Lions Club members thanked Mayor Cotton for sharing his vision and the exciting progress happening in Madisonville and Hopkins County.
