Drivers in McLean County should be prepared for daily lane closures this week, as the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet begins resurfacing projects on sections of U.S. 431 and KY 56 starting Monday.

According to state transportation officials, contractors will start milling work on U.S. 431 between mile markers 3 and 5.1, as well as on KY 56 from mile markers 4.4 to 5.5, beginning Monday. They noted resurfacing is expected to start on the just-over one-mile stretch of KY 56 on Tuesday, followed by paving on U.S. 431 on Wednesday, weather permitting.

Officials said paving on KY 56 will take place from Cox Road to the intersection of KY 56 and KY 136 in Beech Grove. The U.S. 431 resurfacing will stretch from just north of KY 85 in Island to the southern end of the Livermore Bridge.

Drivers are advised to expect daily lane closures and alternating traffic flow managed by flaggers throughout the duration of the project.
