The Hopkins County Humane Society shared some great news Wednesday—the remaining animals in their care have all found new homes.

On July 21, officials from the Hopkins County Humane Society announced that their Laffoon Trail facility would be demolished due to storm damage and building code issues, giving them 30 days to find homes for the 17 animals still in their care. After demolition, they said construction will begin on a modern new shelter.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Humane Society officials expressed gratitude to the community for adopting every animal in their care. As they begin the rebuilding process, officials stated continued community support will be essential every step of the way.

Officials also urged everyone to spay and neuter their pets, saying it is the most effective way to prevent animal abandonment in the community. They also reminded residents to get pets microchipped and to always keep a close eye on them.

They stated that, by working together with the community, the Hopkins County Humane Society can overcome this challenge and emerge even stronger.
