A traffic stop in Madisonville led to a federal prison sentence for a local man following the discovery of a significant quantity of methamphetamine.

Court records show that 65-year-old Michael Skinner of Madisonville was stopped by law enforcement on August 3, 2024, for excessive window tinting. Authorities said a K-9 officer detected narcotics, leading to the discovery of 80.77 grams of meth hidden under the vehicle’s hood. Prosecutors said Skinner admitted to distributing meth and to frequent prior drug distributions. Prosecutors noted that as a result of his conduct and his criminal history, the Court imposed a sentence of 10 years in federal prison followed by 5 years of supervised release.

There is no parole in the federal system.

The investigation was conducted by the DEA Paducah Post of Duty and the Madisonville Police Department.
