The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for western Kentucky west of Land Between the Lakes with heat index readings expected to crest above 100 degrees through the weekend.
Meteorologists say this latest heat wave will produce high temperatures in the low 90s on Wednesday and Friday, with a high of 95 on Thursday. Heat index readings are expected to be between 105 and 108 through early next week. Dew points will remain in the low to mid-70s for the next week, which will contribute to the increased heat index and make the weather feel oppressive at its peak.
Be sure to stay hydrated and limit time outdoors when possible. Also, double-check your vehicle when you get out to make sure you didn’t leave a pet or child inside.
