POSITION DESCRIPTION
The primary purpose of the part time Academic Advisor II is to provide academic and career counseling to enhance students’ academic success.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide academic advising to prospective, new, and returning students in career and technical programs housed within the Professional And Technical Studies (PATS) Division.
2. Serve as a main point of contact for students in the career and technical programs housed within the PATS Division, providing basic organizational information about educational options, academic requirements and institutional resources and addressing their needs.
3. Counsel students in identifying and assessing their interests, skills and values to match appropriate fields of study and career options and refer students to appropriate institutional resources.
4. Create an academic plan for students.
5. Maintain confidentiality and accurate student records according to college policies.
6. Responsible for creating and sending SignalVine messages to students (information about important dates and events) and assisting students with questions.
7. Schedule placement tests for students.
8. Attend conferences, workshops, and webinars that will assist in improving performance in position.
9. Other duties as assigned by Division Chair of the Professional and Technical Studies Division.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor degree (Education with focus on counseling or student affairs, or related field), and two years related experience, or equivalent.
2. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
3. Ability to plan, organize and implement events and day-to-day operations/duties.
4. Demonstrates and facilitates a team spirit in department and community.
5. Demonstrated excellent computer skills.

KY law requires state and national pre-employment background
checks as a condition of employment.
