With their tassels flipped and caps flying, the Madisonville North Hopkins High School seniors marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
The graduation was held on May 22 in the school’s gymnasium. Families’ cars overflowed the parking lots for a chance to celebrate their graduates. The ceremony opened with the national anthem, followed by an invocation.
Starting with last year’s graduates, the school no longer honors a valedictorian or a salutatorian. Instead, they use a format that gives more students a chance to be honored. The highest honor is summa cum laude followed by magna cum laude. Kaitlyn Gray was honored with summa cum laude and chosen to speak at the graduation. She chose a quote from Denzel Washington to share.
