As part of ongoing efforts to ensure community safety, the Madisonville Police Department has announced it will increase enforcement activities over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.
According to officials, several traffic safety checkpoints will be set up across the city, focusing on identifying and removing impaired drivers from the roads. These checkpoints, they added, reflect their commitment to keeping travelers safe during the holiday weekend.
The Madisonville Police Department is equipped with a highly trained team that includes certified Drug Recognition Experts and more than 40 Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement officers. Officials said these officers have undergone specialized training beyond the standard police academy to detect signs of drug and alcohol impairment in drivers.
The Madisonville Police Department strongly urges everyone to think twice before driving while impaired. Authorities warn that anyone caught driving under the influence in Hopkins County will be held accountable.
Possible checkpoint locations include:
Grapevine Road / McLeod Lane
Whittington Drive / Margaretta Loop
West Noel Avenue / Rosecreek Road
South Kentucky Avenue / East Jagoe
Brown Road / Patriot Drive
Princeton Road / Gentry Lane
Police note that checkpoints could be active at any of the listed locations throughout the weekend.
Remember: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
