Hopkins County Escapes Severe Storms with Minimal Impact

While two counties in Kentucky suffered mass casualties and destruction from Friday night’s storms that spawned tornadoes, Hopkins County was fortunate to avoid any significant damage from the severe weather.

Emergency Management Director Nick Bailey told WFMW’s News Edge that Hopkins County primarily experienced straight-line winds during the severe weather event.

As of mid-morning Saturday, Kenergy’s outage map indicated approximately 480 power outages in Hopkins County, while Kentucky Utilities (KU) reported around 740 outages. By Sunday, all power in the county had been restored.
