Mayor Kevin Cotton has declared May as Older Americans Month, emphasizing the city's commitment to honoring its senior citizens.
Mayor Cotton presented the proclamation at the City Council meeting Monday night.
He then handed the proclamation to three representatives of the Madisonville-Hopkins County Senior Citizens Center, with Rudy Stone expressing his gratitude to the city and county for their ongoing support.
Stone further mentioned that he and Cotton have discussed plans to initiate improvements to the center, addressing issues related to its aging infrastructure.
Mayor Cotton encourages all citizens to observe this month by dedicating themselves to enhancing the quality of life for all children and families.
