During a Wednesday night traffic stop, Madisonville police arrested a local man on an outstanding warrant and additional charges of tampering with evidence.
According to Madisonville Police, officers discovered that 45-year-old Steven Brian Matheny, of Madisonville, had an outstanding warrant from Christian County. Police said after Matheny stepped out of the vehicle, he reached into his waistband, pulled out a meth pipe, dropped it on the ground, and stomped on it, crushing the pipe. Police reported there was a white crystal residue inside what remained of the glass pipe.
Matheny was taken into custody and charged with tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
