A 22-year-old Madisonville man has been charged with rape after police responded to a domestic incident over the weekend.
Madisonville Police reported that officers were sent to a residence in the 1100 block of Eastside Lane, where they spoke with the victim, who is the girlfriend of the 22-year-old man and the mother of his child.
According to police, the man confessed to assaulting his girlfriend and engaging in sexual intercourse with her, to which the victim stated that she had not given consent. Officers also noted they observed minor injuries on the victim.
The man was taken into custody and lodged in the Hopkins County Jail on charges of first-degree rape and fourth-degree assault.
