Benjamin Grayson/Hopkins County Detention Center mugshot
A Madisonville man was arrested for wanton endangerment and drug charges after police responded to reports of a man yelling in the middle of the street near West Noel and Pride Avenue on Monday afternoon.
Madisonville Police reported that witnesses saw 41-year-old Benjamin Grayson yelling for help, claiming he was dying. Officers found him running on Noel Avenue and later stopped him near Church Street, where they said he was still yelling and waving his arms. Police said Grayson admitted to smoking synthetic marijuana an hour earlier and feeling like he had been shot. They said he also confessed to having synthetic marijuana in his pocket.
According to police, they found a small plastic container with suspected meth in Grayson’s backpack. Before their arrival, officers said witnesses reported seeing Grayson discard two capped needles, along with his hat and phone. Police said the needles were dropped in an area where children wait for their school bus and walk to school.
Grayson was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication, possession of synthetic drugs, possession of meth and wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
